Our audience limits its interest to rare and prestigious wines and spirits. For example, we will not offer what you can find in a supermarket. Our catalogues are recognised for being highly selective.

How does bottle shipping work?

We offer a range of solutions to support sellers with shipping sold lots, up to full handling on their behalf. We collaborate with the MBE France courier broker network, which has franchise locations across France for packaging and shipping services. All shipments require a signature upon delivery. Let's discuss to find the best solution for you based on where your bottles are located and the quantities involved.

Do I need to send you my bottles before the sale?

Unless we sign a sales mandate with a minimum total amount agreed in advance, your bottles do not leave your cellar until they are sold and paid for.

Can I set a reserve price?

Accepted Answer

Of course, when you receive the estimates, it's up to you to set your reserve price. This is the price that protects you. If it's reached, it's sold; if it's not reached, you can either withdraw your lot or give it another chance at the next sale.

Can I relist an unsold lot?

What are your fees if my lot doesn't sell?

No fees apply if your lots are not sold.

Who pays the shipping costs?

Accepted Answer

Shipping costs are borne by the buyer. If the seller wishes to subscribe to special services (for example, supply and shipping of approved packaging, UPS collection service, etc.), these are charged to the seller.

Can I withdraw a lot before the end of the sale?

No, this is not possible, or withdrawal fees apply at 22% of the low estimate.

What are the seller fees?

Seller fees are limited to 5% of the value reached by the highest bidder. Additional services may be added at the seller's request (assistance with lot creation or management of lots and shipments, for example).

Can I entrust my entire cellar for sale?

Absolutely. We appraise your cellar, agree on a minimum amount to collect (net to seller). We sign a sales mandate and take care of everything from A to Z. You just need to wait and collect your money. The only thing the seller needs to do: have a completed account on Cavacave. Lot management fees apply (€15/lot).

How do I get my wine appraised?

Publish your lot ("sell your wine" section) or send us your cellar book ("estimate your cellar" section), and we will be happy to appraise it for you.

What is the average time between listing and payment?

Accepted Answer

Our sales cycle allows for less than 2 weeks between when your wine is appraised and when the sale ends. Then, within the week the buyer pays, one week to send/receive the lots won. Therefore, within an average of 3 weeks to 1 month after publishing your wine, you can expect to receive the proceeds from your sales.
