An exclusive "Watami" edition, created for the Watami restaurant chain, in tribute to Watami's president. There are several Watami variants: "Founder's Choice" and "President's Choice." The President's Choice version seems to emphasize the sherry casks more. An initial nose of spicy woody notes, followed by hints of red fruits such as dried cranberry, candied orange, and orange marmalade. An initial sweetness of honey and vanilla. A certain roundness evolves into riper fruits—plums, dried apricots—and a lingering oaky finish. A sherry cask influence (more prominent than in the standard Yamazaki 12) adds depth, sweet tannins, and aromas of red and dried fruits.
