The estate is located in Chacé, south-east of Saumur and extends over 15 hectares in about 25 plots with a great diversity of soils. The estate has the chance to count very old, hundred-year-old vines. The incomparable quality of the wines of Clos Rougeard is largely due to that of viticulture, extremely demanding and this for at least 50 years, with the practice of organic farming even before it was officially recognized. However, the domain is not labeled. Thus, these vines which have never known any chemical product wonderfully express all the complexity of their terroir. On the vinification side, we are not left out. The winery has recently undergone a complete overhaul with a cellar (2 years of aging) worthy of the greatest wines of Burgundy or Bordeaux. It is all the excellence of this wine that is fully expressed on long-term stays of 15-30 years. This 2011 begins to be good to taste.
