Seller description
The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch 3 offers a luxurious, layered tasting experience. It opens with rich aromas of cinnamon rolls, honeyed malt, mandarin orange and golden raisins, gradually revealing subtle cigar smoke and charred oak. On the palate, expect silky notes of spiced plum, ginger candy, cinnamon toast, and chewy toffee, finishing with lingering licorice, spicy oak, and a gentle leather nuance. This limited-edition bottling (52.2 % ABV) blends whisky matured in 31 carefully chosen casks: twelve Oloroso sherry butts distilled 1989–1992, eleven American oak hogsheads from 1989, and eight refill American oak butts from 1992–1993. Each component is married in the famously large “Tun 1509” marrying vessel to harmonize flavors before bottling—non chill-filtered and crafted for optimal balance. Balvenie Distillery, founded by William Grant in 1892 and operational since May 1, 1893, stands as one of Speyside’s few remaining distilleries to maintain all traditional on-site crafts: barrel-making, floor maltings, copper soldering, barley growing, and whisky distillation. Under the stewardship of Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, Balvenie has pioneered wood-finishing techniques that shape its renowned portfolio.
