Seller description
About the domain Created in 1731, the Maison Bouchard Père et Fils has throughout its history been one of the most beautiful vineyards in Burgundy, by buying up vines on the best terroirs. In 1811, the company name "Bouchard Père et Fils" was made official; throughout the 19th century, buyouts continued and during the 20th century, the Bouchards focused mainly on exploiting their estate rather than expanding it. From 1969, the policy of selected purchases resumed. In 1995, the Bouchard family passed the torch to another historic family, this one from Champagne: the Maison de Champagne Henriot. The new team takes charge of the destiny of the vineyard and completely regenerates the house, even in the style of the wines. Recently, in 2022, the Artémis group (Francois Pinault's investment fund, including owner of Clos de Tart, Château Latour...) bought the house. In recent years, its rating has continued to rise and it is among the best Burgundian merchants; some of its wines have even managed to establish themselves as the greatest in its entire history. The vineyard has 130 hectares (and the same area in grape purchases) including 12 hectares of Grands Crus and 74 hectares of Premiers crus. With nearly 50 hectares spread over 23 climates, Bouchard Père & Fils has been the largest owner in Beaune Premier Cru for several generations. Read the blog article on the Bouchard Père & Fils domain About the vintage Legend has it that Charlemagne was particularly fond of the red corton. He then ordered to plant chardonnay on the plots facing south. This corton-charlemagne grand cru has notes of citrus, honey and a grilled touch. It combines controlled freshness and roundness for a beautiful balance and will need at least ten years to express itself perfectly. A vintage that will be perfectly combined with a blanquette with two fish, a monkafish tail with white butter or other crustaceans in sauce. The harvests are done by hand, then the bunches are sorted one by one in order to keep only the best. Pressing takes place in two stages: the first consists of the evacuation of the first juices, the second in a pressing in a two-hour cycle. Finally, the wines are aged between 12 and 13 months in French oak barrels, with up to 15% new wood depending on the vintages. The result is at the height of the Maison Bouchard Père & Fils.
