Seller description
Tawny are red wines, made from the same grapes as Ruby, but only aged two to three years in the rafters, and later on to the kites. These allow a greater contact of the wine with the wood and with the air. Thus the Tawny breathe more, oxidizing and aging rapidly. Due to the high oxidation Tawny lose the initial color of red wines, gaining lighter shades like amber, and flavors of nuts such as walnuts or almonds. With age the Tawny gain even more aromatic complexity, enriching their aromas.
