Located 15 km from Bordeaux, in the southern part of the appellation, the vines of Larrivet-Haut-Brion adjoin those of Haut-Bailly. The name of the estate has undergone many changes during the two centuries of its history. First named Château de Canolle, then La Rivette, it took the name of Château Haut-Brion Larrivet in 1874. The estate belonged successively to a Bordeaux merchant and then to amateurs of Bordeaux, the sons of M. Theodore Conseil, who Develop. The vineyard reaches 50 hectares. In the 1930s, the estate suffered the full effects of the economic crisis and production was destroyed. In 1949, it takes its current name: Château Larrivet Haut-Brion, but it is under the impulse of Christine and Philippe Gervoson that the domain is reconstituted, by the acquisition of original plots. Major investments are made, and the wines gradually regain their former quality. From 1996, the fine vintages succeed one another and the terroir expresses itself again fully: the vineyard of Larrivet Haut-Brion rests indeed on a clay soil composed of sand and ferruginous alios. Since 2007, the estate is managed by Bruno Lemoine, general manager and winemaker. The reds, all in finesse, are revealed rather tannic but also very flexible. Always very balanced, they reach their fullness after a few years of aging.
