1964- Château Margaux Parker points : 92/100 High Shoulder- Label and capsule médium condition Château bottled Owned by Edward III of England, of the family of Albret and then of Montferrand, the domain retains a military vocation until 1802, when the Marquis of La Clonilla shaved the fortress and built the house that one can see today. Until the early 1960s, the wines were often excellent, sometimes grandiose. As such, the mythical 1900 is one of the most renowned nectars of the century. Between 1963 and 1977, the property underwent a difficult period, without investment, where the quality of the wine is felt. With the arrival of the Mentzelopoulos family, and thanks to the talents of Emile Peynaud, the wines have regained their level of 1st classified grand cru. 1978 marks the beginning of a succession of grandiose vintages. Château Margaux has a single-vineyard, which rests largely on gravelly soil, sometimes clayey, with a high proportion of limestone. The wines are characterized by a dark color and intricate and complex aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and violet. Recent vintages have a tremendous potential for keeping. Made rare in the Médoc, the estate also produces a superb fruity and powerful white wine.
