Description du vendeur

THE WINE WILL BE ALWAYS SHIPPED IN A WOODEN BOX Wine has been always stored in the underground wine cellar, below ground level, ensuring a steady temperature and humidity. The fill level of the wine bottles is good Damaged label + 1 missing Varietal : Pinot Noir Regio: Cote de Nuits Domaine JeanJacques Confuron One of Burgundy’s most highly regarded estates, the 20 acres of Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron are now controlled by Sophie Meunier-Confuron and her husband Alain Meunier. They took over from Sophie’s father in 1988, and converted all parcels to organic viticulture in 1990. The wines are brilliant examples of the concept of “power without weight”, with great depth of flavors wrapped up in refinement and elegance. The entire range is outstanding here – the Côte de Nuits-Villages “les Vignottes” is a tremendous value for the quality, and their Romanée-Saint Vivant is a reference standard for one of the most refined of all Grand Crus. The 1976 vintage for Burgundy was exceptionally good. The growing season was long, hot and dry and began with a particularly mild winter notably free of frost, and these balmy conditions continued into spring allowing from both a successful budburst and flowering. The summer heat ensured an early harvest mid-September and, although the heavy rains that disrupted Bordeaux threatened to strike Burgundy, most of the harvest was in before they had the chance. However, despite most of the fruit being picked early enough to dodge the deluge, some of the grapes, particularly Chardonnay, suffered from dehydration during the sizzling summer. Conversely, the quality of Pinot Noir was extremely high as the berries were so concentrated, but some fruit suffered from being a touch dried out and jammy. Overall, the resulting wines were extremely good but the best examples tended to come from the Côte de Beaune, as the Côte de Nuits suffered slightly more from overcooked fruit and heavy-handed structures. However, many of the top producers still managed to excel. For Burgundy, the 1976 vintage was very good despite some misses, although many of the wines are inevitably going to be past their best. The top examples may still be drinking well but careful research is advisable.
