Deliveries are made to your home, and we avoid channels like parcel relay points that require buyers to travel to collect often heavy and bulky packages.

Cavacave is exclusively dedicated to enthusiasts and collectors of rare and prestigious wines and spirits. Our catalogues are deliberately selective: we favour sought-after references with strong heritage or collectible value. If your bottle belongs in a great cellar, it probably belongs with us.

How does an auction work?

The proposed lots are validated, appraised and then put up for sale. At the end of the sale, the buyer has 3 business days to pay for their purchases. Funds are secured in a dedicated escrow e-wallet via our payment provider Mangopay. The seller then has 3 business days to ship the items. Upon confirmed receipt in good condition, the buyer confirms delivery, which triggers payment to the seller.

What guarantees do you offer?

Cavacave acts as a hosting platform and broker serving as a trusted third party. Our responsibility is limited to ensuring that both physical and financial flows are completed correctly for each transaction. We guarantee sellers that their bottles are only shipped after the buyer's funds have been received and secured, and we guarantee buyers that the seller is only paid after confirmed receipt of the lots won in good condition. Auction brokerage activity falls under civil law: A sale between private individuals constitutes a contract governed by the Civil Code. This is much less protective than the Consumer Code, which applies to contracts between individuals and professionals. In the event of a dispute, the claimant can only rely on the guarantee against hidden defects or defect of consent. The buyer has neither the legal guarantee of conformity nor the right of withdrawal.
