- French wineyard
Alter Ego is the Château Palmer's "second wine" whose first harvest took place in 1998. It is considered to be one of the best second wines of the vineyards of Bordeaux.
The acquisition of a new renovated vat in 1995, allowing a very rigorous vinification process, provides a wine a near perfect regularity. The vinification is done by variety and by plot in temperature-regulated, stainless steel vats. For 17 to 18 months, the wine is aged in oak barrels (25 to 40% new) with two aging cellars. The wine is then fined with egg white. The Alter Ego has the characteristic of being soft and round right after the aging process. It reveals itself to be best right from its very first years of age.
Grape variety : Cabarnet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Ageing : 3 years.
Annual production : 96 000 bottles.
