How to Create an Account on Cavacave.com? 

To join the site community, please go to the «Log In» section (in the User menu). Click on « I want to create an account » and then follow the on-screen instructions. Once you’ve provided all the information, a confirmation email confirming your account’s creation will be sent to your address. You now just have to click on the confirmation link to activate your registration.

Is Account Creation Free? 

Yes. The creation of a Cavacave.com account is completely free.

Can I Use the Cavacave Services Without Creating an Account?

Creating a Cavacave account is optional. However, you will not be able to use the whole array of our services without one. As an anonymous user, you cannot benefit from:

  • Ad posting
  • Contacting other users

To enjoy all of our services, we strongly recommend that you create an account in a couple of clicks. The whole process is easy, requires no commitment, is free, and anonymous.

How Can I Complete my Profile?

The Corker and Flasker founding team recommends that you fill out your profile with great care. Your profile is your only point of contact with other community members and is essential to building trust with other members. To fill out your Profile:

  1. Go to “My Account”
  2. Click on the “Complete your Profile” tab
  3. Access all fields to be filled to create a complete and detailed profile
  4. Click on “Save” once you are done with the update

Please note that you must be logged in to your account before you can make these changes.

How Can I Change my Account Settings?

If you wish to add a new email address or simply change your password, you must first login to the My Account section.

  1. Click on “Complete your Profile” 
  2. Click on “Login” located at the left of the menu
  3. Follow instructions
  4. Save changes


Is the Privacy of my Personal Information Protected?

As a trusted third party, Cavacave will not communicate any information about its users and will personally see to it that all private data remains protected as such. For self-evident security reasons, your coordinates are not – and will never be - communicated to third parties. Furthermore, our site does not sell or rent this information. Only your chosen pseudonym, your declared residence country code, and the picture you have uploaded are displayed to other Cavacave users. No personal information will be displayed.

How Can I Log In to my Account?

To login to your personal account, click on the “Log In” link in the User menu. Enter the email address used for your registration, your password and then click on “Log In”.

How Can I Log Out from my Account?

To log out your account, click on the “Log Out” link in the user menu. 

How Can I Reinitialize my Password?

To reinitialize your password, please click on “Log In” and ask for a new password. Follow the instructions. An email will be sent to you with all the details you need to change your password.

How Can I Subscribe to the Newsletter?

Our newsletter keeps you regularly informed about the latest wine news, what’s happening in our community, as well as Cavacave projects and events. It enables you to stay connected with other Corkers and Flaskers on a monthly basis. To subscribe, visit the News icon located at bottom of our Webpage and click on Subscribe.

How Can I Unsubscribe From the Newsletter?

How Much Can I Expect to Pay to Post an Item?

Posting an item is completely free.

How can I Sell a Bottle from my Cellar?

First, connect to your user account. Then, visit the “Sell your Wine” section in the general User menu. 

Select the reference listing of the wine you would like to sell in the existing catalogue. Use the search engine to help you. Cavacave proposes a non exhaustive catalogue of wine listing. This knowledge base is constantly updated when users add their own “for sale” wines. If your search in our database is not conclusive, meaning your wine bottle is not yet listed, you will be asked to create a custom wine listing by clicking on the Create a New Wine Record menu item located at the bottom of the pages.

Follow the necessary steps to post your listing. Correctly fill out the questionnaire by providing the information. 

TRICK OF THE TRADE to increase your chances of being contacted by a potential collector buyer:

  1. Add a maximum of information to your profile (avatar picture, postal/zip code, wine storage conditions…) to emphasize your credibility and create trust. The only data that will be displayed about you on the site are your pseudonym, postal/zip code, and country of residence. No other personal data will be displayed. 
  2. Check that the price you have set is by bottle, even if you are selling a wine lot or a case.
  3. Add as many pictures as possible to your ad to enable interested parties to assess the condition of the bottles you are selling.
  4. Do not hesitate to fill the Description field. Even though it is optional, the more details you provide – origin, shelf life, etc. – the more you increase your odds of quickly finding a buyer.


How Will I Be Notified When a Corker and Flasker Has Sent Me a Message?

When a member has sent you a message, a notification will be sent to the email address you have provided at registration. Please follow the online directions to view the message.

How Can I Delete my Ad?

When you have closed a sale, or if you have changed your mind, we please ask you to remove your listing to avoid being contacted by other potential buyers.

To do so, please go to “My Account > My Listings” and delete the relevant listing by adding the reason for removal.

How Much Time Can My Listing Stay Online?

When you post a listing, the posting duration is unlimited. You are the only person that can unpost your listing and you can do so at anytime. To do so, go to “My Account > My Listings” and delete the relevant listing.

How Can I View My Published Listings?

You can access your published postings history by clicking on “My Listings” located on the top menu.

How Can I Change a Listing? 

To change the information in your listing, go to “My Account > My Listings”. Select the relevant listing and click on “Modify”. Enter your changes and save.

I’ve Posted a Listing But it Has Not Been Posted or Has Been Unpublished. Why?

Cavacave reserves the right to not publish a listing without any justification if it does not respect the site’s posting guidelines.

Please respect the following rules to ensure worry-free posting. Otherwise, you are invited to change your posting according to these rules:

  • Before publishing a listing, the seller must link each bottle he sells to the relevant description that appears in the database.
  • By publishing a listing, the seller certifies that he is the only and full owner of the bottles he is selling.
  • Each person that contributes to Cavacave must take every precaution to use proper spelling and syntax. Cavacave reserves the right to change, delete, or cancel content that are found to be lacking.
  • Only wines made by professional producers and featuring the appropriate capsules-congés (colored-coded tops on the foils proving that tax has been paid on the wine and that it may be sold commercially) can be offered for sale.
  • The seller is asked to publish listings that are as complete as possible to increase his odds of finding a buyer for the wine lot he has put for sale.
  • This site is bilingual. Descriptions, storage and conservation conditions, can be written in two languages (French and English).
  • Cavacave authorizes a Comment Thread under every listing posted. Infractions to rules of good conduct and etiquette will not be tolerated. Cavacave reserves the right to cancel the account of any offender without any notice.
  • The seller is responsible for updating his listings, adjusting available quantities, and deactivating a sold-out listing.
  • The posting of listing is only permitted for original products.
  • The pictures used to show the state of a bottle can only refer to it and illustrate the current state of the same or strictly identical wine bottle lot.
  • Any fraud attempt will be reported to the competent authorities.

Is There Any Minimum Price per Bottle?

Cavacave.com wishes to offer an exceptional wine catalogue submitted by individuals to its users. We aim to propose a service that reflects that commitment toward our users.

We have fixed a minimum bid of 25 Euros per bottle. Below that level, we decide not to publish the posting. We believe that such a bottle will not find a buyer on our site.

What are the Recommended Delivery Modes?

If you wish to close a sale with a potential buyer, you must include the Recommended Delivery mode. Many options are possible:

  • Hand Delivery: (further details will have to be settled with the buyer by private messaging). There are no associated service fees for this option.
  • Postal Delivery: the transaction and payment are directly processed on the payment solution that we put at your disposition through our payment partner. You can then choose from several shipping modes (Colisimo, Chronopost, DHL…) in the listing form.

Please note that you can choose both delivery mode (hand-delivery AND multiple postal delivery). In those cases, the buyer can decide the option that best suits him.

What Are the Preferred Payment Methods?

When creating your listing you must choose between two preferred payment options:

  • Private Payment: you find a payment mean directly with your buyer (cash, check, bank deposit…).
  • Automated and Secure Payment: the Cavacave platform is used to pay for postal delivery (to be paid on delivery by the buyer). By selecting this option, 6 % charges are added (excluding taxes). These fees are invoiced by Cavacave.

  • Quickness

Online payment offers you a quick way to close the sale. The transaction is directly managed by Cavacave and the online payment solution provider. You thus benefit from a worry-free, high quality, and quick transaction.

  • Security

Online payment ensures that the whole sale amount will be paid to your bank account automatically. No need to worry about anything. The full sale amount is transferred to an escrow account before you even ship the wine lots you sold. Payment is thus guaranteed.

How Do I Enter my Banking Account?

By logging in My Account > Personal Information > My Seller Information – and filling the necessary fields with the information available in your bank account identity.

Do I Have to Communicate my Postal and Banking Information?

When you choose the Cavacave payment platform option, you must provide all this information so the transaction amount may be credited automatically on your bank account when the sale has been confirmed.

For security reasons, only your account login identity is saved by Cavacave in a secure and encrypted environment. Details such as (name, card number, expiration date) are saved by PCI DSS, our certified payment partner. (Mangopay) 

Am I Sure to Get Paid?

When you choose the online payment platform, the total amount of the sale is already paid and frozen in your E-Wallet (which is automatically created when you enter your banking information). You are then certain to get paid as soon as the bottles are received by the buyer (up to a maximum of 21 days).

What Do I Have to Do Once the Transaction Has Been Approved?

Once the sale has been closed, you have three days to send the package according to the option selected by the buyer. Once the package has been shipped, you must validate the expedition of the lot in your account. The full amount of the sale will be available in a maximum of 21 days.

When Will I Get Paid?

The sale is paid when the platform has registered the final delivery confirmation of the wine lot by the buyer. The amount will be unlocked within a maximum of 21 days after the confirmation of the expedition of your wine lot.

How Can I Narrow Down my Searches and Easily Find a Specific Wine?

Go to the Buy a Wine section. A search engine is available to help you out. Fill out the fields you need and launch the search. You can also use the search filters located on the left side of the page.

Send us a detailed request and the Corker and Flasker Founding team will investigate for you.

How Can I Get More Information About a Listing?

If you are interested in a listing, you can directly contact the seller to get more details.

To do this, go to the seller’s listing and click on the “Send a Private Message to the Seller” option or post a comment on the listing. This conversation will remain anonymous on the Cavacave private messaging. You will be notified when you receive a new message from the seller in the inbox you have selected when you created your account.

For security reasons, we strongly advise you not to communicate your banking information - or any other sensitive information - when you exchange with other Corkers and Flaskers. At least, until you have got to know the other party better.

By default, none of your personal info is displayed on the site. Only your pseudonym with which you have created your account, the account date creation, and the postal code of your country of residence are made public. Cavacave reserves the right to refuse to transmit any message that does not respect these rules or, if cases be, to only transmit a part of the message.

How Can I Add a Wine Bottle to my Shopping Cart?

When you want to add a wine bottle to your shopping cart, simply click on your selection. Select a quantity after having selected your seller(s).

How Can I Delete a Wine Bottle I’ve Added to my Shopping Cart?

Just go to your shopping cart and click on the relevant icon.

I Want to Buy a Bottle. How do I do it?

Go to your shopping cart. Choose a Delivery mode among those proposed for each of the seller’s listing:

  • Hand Delivery 
  • Postal Delivery with details on which countries the listing can be shipped to. Shipping charges are clearly stated for each country

I Choose Hand Delivery

We recommend that you contact the seller by private message or public comment on his listing to ask him to add details on his delivery mode or to set up a hand delivery.

I Choose Postal Delivery

Click on “Buy > Select Shipping Destination > Validate Country > Select Delivery Mode among Those Available > Click on Go to the Wine Rack.

You will be directed to your ‘wine rack’ that provides a recap of all the information related to your order. The final amount including service charges, shipping and handling charges, as well as the value added type taxes (VAT) is displayed at the bottom of the page.

  1. Click on “Confirm my Order”.
  2. Fill out the required billing address information; > click to continue.
  3. Fill out the required shipping address information; > click to continue.
  4. Fill out the required banking information; > click to continue.
  5. You are then redirected to your order summary. A confirmation email is then sent to the email address specified at account creation.

 

Is it Possible to Change the Delivery Mode of a Wine Bottle in my Shopping Cart?

By going to your shopping cart, you can change the delivery mode of each wine bottle that you have previously added by seller. The total amount to be paid will be automatically updated.

If you choose not to have your order delivered by mail, you can opt for hand delivery. In that case, empty your shopping cart and contact the seller to agree on the details of this hand delivery.

How Can I Change Product Quantity in the Shopping Cart?

By going to My Shopping Cart, you will be able to change the quantity of any wine bottle by seller and by available quantity for each wine bottle.

How Much Will My Cavacave.com Purchase Actually Cost?

The total sale cost is equal to the value of the bottle (as determined by the seller) plus shipping fees. 

A service charge representing 6 % of final bottle agreed value (without taxes) is invoiced but will not be used to calculate shipping fees.

  • Hand Delivery: conditions will have to be set with the buyer by private messaging. Cavacave service is free in that case.
  • Mail Delivery: the transaction and the payment are done directly on the platform. You can choose one of the several modes listed (Colissimo, DHL…)

Please note that the seller must take out insurance equals to the total value of the transaction prior to shipping.

How Can I Be Sure that I’m Buying Quality Wine? 

We do not authenticate bottles put for sale by users. You are invited to post all the necessary questions, the more specific the better, to the seller: this is the best way for you to ensure traceability and wine quality. Do not hesitate to ask the seller to upload additional pictures to his listing to validate fill level, capsule state… and further describe the bottle history. We also advise you to ask the seller for a proof of purchase. The Flaconer Seller must also provide some information on the wine bottle to help you make an informed buying decision on a wine bottle lot: conservation, fill level, condition of label…

How Can I Be Sure That My Order Will Be Delivered as Promised?

When you pay through the Cavacave platform, the sale amount will be frozen in an escrow account. The seller will then have three days to send the order. The purchase status will then be displayed as “Paid” to “Sent”. You must then validate the transfer from your account to free the funds for the Corker and Flasker Seller.

If you have not received your parcel within 10 days after shipping, a first reminder message will be sent to the seller. An inquiry will be launched with the carrier since all deliveries are followed and insured.

What Are the Responsibilities of the Site Owner in Regard to Listings?

  • Cavacave and its editors, content hosting company, cannot be held liable for any false information that may be present in a listing under any circumstance.
  • Cavacave and its editors cannot be held liable for the quality of a given bottle that was put up for sale in a listing.
  • In the case of an international sales relationship, the involved parties must fill the required custom declarations and pay the current custom fees to the relevant authorities.

In Case of a Dispute, Can I Ask Cavacave.com to Intervene?

We have a policy never to act as an intermediary in any transaction between buyer and seller. Cavacave is a platform meant to facilitate and host exchanges, connections, and transactions. We are never responsible – in any case – for the non-execution of a contract, even if we put everything in place to satisfy our clientele as the provider of a communication channel and a relationship facilitator.
